Staff and students get funny for money on Red Nose Day
Our school enjoyed an unforgettable day of laughter, movement and generosity, uniting to celebrate Red Nose Day in support of Comic Relief. This year’s theme was Taking ourselves funny for money and pupils certainly rose to the challenge. Children arrived dressed in a wide range of imaginative and hilarious outfits including bright pig pyjamas, Flintstones costumes, colourful wigs and even banana outfits. Staff also joined in the fun, with Mr Shooter‑Dodd raising smiles by arriving in a retro Leicester City shirt, much to his own amusement.
The day began with the entire school heading out to the playground for a high‑energy Clubbercise and Zumba session. Led by Mrs Downing, the session was filled with music, movement and smiles and proved to be a brilliant way to get everyone active while celebrating such an important cause.
Throughout the day, pupils shared their funniest jokes, keeping laughter flowing across classrooms and corridors. The joyful atmosphere highlighted the strong sense of community at Broom Leys and showed how fundraising can be both meaningful and fun.
Thanks to the incredible generosity of families and the enthusiasm of pupils and staff, the school has raised well over £400 for Comic Relief. The money will help support vital projects in the UK and around the world, making a real difference to people in need.
The Red Nose Day celebrations were a fantastic example of the kindness, creativity and energy shown by the Broom Leys community. Everyone involved should be extremely proud of the way they came together to make others smile while supporting such an important cause.
